Hutchins teacher scores umpiring hat-trick

On Friday 8 April, Mr Sam Nogajski attended the Ricky Ponting Medal where he was awarded the State Umpire of the Year award from Cricket Tasmania. Mr Nogajski was also presented with Tasmania's 'Grade Umpire of the Year' trophy for 2010-11, his third win in a row, at the Association's Annual Dinner held at Bellerive on Wednesday 6 April.

Hutchins Rowers make their mark at Launceston Henley

Henley Regatta U13s Double Skull - Eddie Johnstone and Connor Schmidt in stroke.

The Open Squad had the weekend off after their Nationals effort, but all other age groups competed in the Launceston Henley Regatta last weekend (19-20 March)  This was a great opportunity, particularly for younger rowers, to get some more racing experience before the last three school regattas of the season.

Hutchins Sweeps Up Medals at Rowing Nationals

Hutchins rowers have taken out three gold medals, a silver and a bronze at the National Rowing Championships in Adelaide over the weekend, with the school retaining its position as the most successful rowing school in the nation. The next best medal tally was Scotch College Victoria with one gold and three silvers.

Students of The Hutchins School are well-known around Hobart for their striking magenta and black uniforms. The School is also known for making sure boys appear as well-groomed as possible – with rules on how uniforms should be worn, and teachers instructed to make sure boys are following them. But one student is standing out from the crowd …and causing quite a stir.
