2018 Chinese Speech Competition

The 2018 Chinese Speech Competitions (Secondary and Primary) took place at The Friends’ School and The Hutchins School a few weeks ago and the Award Ceremony was held at St Michael’s Collegiate on 14 September 2018.

Today we welcomed the Anglican Bishop of Tasmania and visitor to The Hutchins School Board, The Rt Revd Dr Richard Condie, for Bishop’s Day.
From 2–12 September 2018, Year 10 students Louis Kingston, William Mather and Riley Stevenson, together with science teacher Dr Keith Martin-Smith attended the 2018 International Student Science Conference (ISSC), hosted by Liceo Marco Foscarini in Venice.
The Hutchins School students had some outstanding results last weekend at the Mathematical Association of Tasmania (MAT) Maths Relays.
This morning, The Hutchins Senior School community joined together to make a difference for our 2018 chosen charity Speak Up Stay ChatTy by Freezin’ for a Reason at Nutgrove Beach.

Last Friday students William Thorpe (Year 8), Sheng-Yuan Lynch (Year 7) and Leo Wang (Year 8) performed at Government House for the Governor, and a ballroom full of guests, to celebrate 100 years of the Australian Music Examinations Board.
Our Middle and Senior School House Athletics Carnival was held at the Domain Athletic Centre yesterday in somewhat trying conditions. Rain, wind and a hail storm however was not enough to dampen the spirits of our boys on the track and in the field.
Wow! Dance@Hutchins was once again a great success on Saturday night. All of the hard work of the boys culminated in an evening of amazing entertainment.
The Junior School Book week Assembly was held on Tuesday where the Year 4s gave an early rehearsal performance that they are preparing for Grandparents’ Day.
