Hutchins Rugby 7s
Hutchins Rugby took an U16 and an U18 team to Melbourne to participate in the Victorian Schools Sevens Competition at Xavier College in the holidays. They left early on the Friday morning, and after arriving in Melbourne they attended a tour of the Melbourne Cricket Ground and National Sports Museum, had a light stretch and training run at Melbourne Grammar, before being billeted out for the night.
Hutchins teams were extremely competitive in the competition, playing against the best rugby schools in Victoria. There were 12 schools competing in the U16 age groups and 16 schools competing in the U18 age group. The U16s made it through to the Cup Final, unfortunately losing to Fountain Gate Secondary School, finishing 2nd overall. The U18s made it through to the Cup Semi-Final, unfortunately losing to St Kevin’s College, the Cup winners, and finishing 3rd overall.
Congratulations to all the players, coaches and management involved. This is an outstanding achievement for a Hobart school competing against Victorian schools.
