It gives me great pleasure to announce the appointment of Mr James Bourne as Head of Boarding. James commenced working at The Hutchins School in May of 2017 and immediately made a positive impact with his colleagues and the boys in his classes.
It is with pleasure that we share with you a sample of our outstanding academic achievements of our Year 12 students in 2017. In summary seven boys achieved an ATAR above 99 and 23 boys were listed 37 times for achieving a perfect score in a pre-tertiary subject.
The School’s most prestigious award, the E M Lilley Memorial Prize for Dux of the School, has been awarded to James Tucker.

The Hutchins physics team of Raiden Lemon, Sudhaunshu Hardikar and Brendan Heatley-Hart (all year 10) competed in Brisbane earlier this week at the IYPT Australian Challenge.
The Ben Chuck ‘Good Man’ Award is a Year 12 award voted on by the Class of 2017. It is named in honour of Ben Chuck, an Old Boy of Hutchins who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash while serving in Afghanistan.
The Hutchins School Sailing Academy will commence their SB20 Australian Championships campaign tomorrow. This program has been two years in the making and has given our boys the platform to compete at the highest stage.
On Friday afternoon, 24 November, the Chapel of St Thomas was filled with the melodic sounds of the School’s Barbershop Quartet and the beautiful solo voice of the current Jeffery Boyes Choral Scholarship holder, Nicholas Kains.
Our Year 10 students have chosen HeartKids as their charity for 2017. HeartKids is the compass to help navigate the lifetime journey of the 64,000 Australian children, teens and adults affected by congenital/childhood heart disease.
