Year 8 project showcases impressive effort by Hutchins boys
Last week Year 8 students showcased their Year 8 Projects. The project is a major piece of student negotiated work involving planning, research and personal reflection. Each project undertaken involves at least 25 hours of work over 20 weeks outside of school. It is an opportunity for students to follow a passion or try something new, developing skills along the way.
Projects had to integrate at least one theoretical strand from the ‘Year 8 Integrated Unit’ studied throughout the year, including self and identity, innovation with business and entrepreneurship, sustainability and future impacts or community interconnectedness. These units enable students to be open minded to a new way of learning with the aim of raising self-awareness and deeper understanding, of themselves and the wider world. This year the projects certainly did not disappoint and were very impressive.
