Hutchins represented in equestrian

In weeks 2 and 3, Year 8 students participated in a variety of Wellbeing Challenges as part of Camp and Enrichment Week. The bushwalking and camp challenge introduces and prepares the students for Power of 9 challenges. The students carried all they needed for the week and walked from camp to camp at Freycinet.
These past holidays a group of students from Hutchins and Collegiate represented Tasmania and Australia on a tour of France and Belgium.
The fifth Magenta & Black Art Show concluded last weekend and was a great success. In the six days it was open over 1,000 people came to the Long Gallery to view the exhibition which is an impressive attendance figure for any art exhibition of a week’s duration.
Friday 14 March was Grandparents’ Day at The Hutchins School. Grandparents were shown around classrooms and participated in various activities. Year 2 students sang a beautiful rendition of “Deep in My Heart”.
As part of the School’s journey with the Council of International Schools (CIS), the Guiding Statements sub-committee A (under the guidance of Deputy Headmaster, Mr Alan Jones), commissioned the creation of a virtual representation of the Hutchins School’s Guiding Statements.
We congratulate the following students who have been inducted as Prefects at this week’s Headmaster’s Assembly for 2014: Matthew Scaife, Alexander MacIntyre and Lochlan Fraser.
The Hutchins School community warmly welcomes our Artist-in-Residence, Rosemary O’Rourke. She will be working primarily with senior Art students. Rosemary’s project involves making large chalk wall drawings that you will see materialising at various sites around the School.
Late last year and over the holidays, our sportsmen have enjoyed a summer of success, collecting a swag of awards.
