Hutchins Fire Relief Fundraiser

The recent fundraiser 'Country Feast' for the Dunalley Primary School was a superb example of the qualities of a community willing to help those in need and of the generosity and caring nature of our community. Parents, students, staff and friends of The Hutchins School, St Michael’s Collegiate and Fahan School gathered to enjoy a magnificent evening of music, food, wine and camaraderie as we raised funds specifically for the devastated Dunalley Primary School. I wish to pass on my sincere thank you to everyone involved for this initiative – Parents’ Association, Board members, staff, students – and the efforts and commitment brought to what was a most successful event.

At this time I am unsure of the exact amount raised but I am optimistic the generosity of our parents, staff and students will be well recorded in the final accounts as a sum in excess of $15,000. The Principal of Dunalley Primary School, Mr Matthew Kenny, noted that there is so much still to be physically done and many unpredicted and ongoing expenses arising.

As noted last Friday evening Hutchins has also arranged to offer for the staff and students of Dunalley Primary School our Southport Camp so they can enjoy that environment and gather together for a break. It is often during this period that students and staff feel most ‘down’ and the reality of what has happened sets in; a break away from it all is good medicine.

Again, thank you for your generosity, efforts, time and especially your consideration for those in need, it is most appreciated.
