Melbourne Reunion 2014

From left Julian Penwright ('87), Damien Gray ('86), Simon Bayley ('86) and Gene Phair ('87) - President of the HSOBA.

Well done Melbourne Old Boys, you pipped Sydney, only just! Over 65 attended the Melbourne reunion held on Friday 16 May hosted by myself and Gene Phair (’87), President of the Old Boys' Association and member of the School Board. We were especially pleased to have past Headmaster Bill Toppin and past staff members Tony and Alison Smithies in attendance. Unfortunately David Brammal (’56) was unwell and unable to attend on the evening but is hoping to attend the 2015 reunion.

It was encouraging to see such a range of ex-students present, ranging from David Basselot-Hall (’52), Mark Greenhill (’53), Roger Thiessen (’56) and Rod Reynolds (’60) to our latest Old Boys Sam MacIntyre (’13) and previous School Captain Sam Johnston (’12). It was great to see so many regulars bringing friends along with them. Can we get to 100 next year?

Don’t forget the School Reunion scheduled for Saturday 2 August 2014, for Leavers of 1949–59, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004 and 2009 – start getting your classmates together.

Di and I loved catching up with you all, thanks for coming along and we hope you see you there again next year.
