International Young Physicists’ Tournament Australia Challenge

The Hutchins School IYPT Team: Sudhaunshu Hardikar, Ewan Sloan, Raiden Lemon, Mr Peter Crofts.

Three Hutchins boys have just competed in the International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT) Australia Challenge. This is the official qualifying tournament for places in the team to represent Australia at the International Young Physicists’ Tournament to be held in Warsaw, Poland in July 2019.

At this tournament, teams of 3 students present their solutions in ‘Physics Fights’. In a physics fight, the reporter presents a solution and an opponent critiques the report then discusses the findings with the reporter.

Alongside Mr Peter Crofts, the Hutchins team of Raiden Lemon, Sudhaunshu Hardikar (both Year 11) and Ewan Sloan (Year 10) finished in third place. Raiden received the top score of the competition and has been offered a place in the Australian five person team to go to Poland in July 2019.

Well done to all boys!
