An evening with Olympic silver medallist Lisa Darmanin

Joy Anderson and Lisa Darmanin with Sailing Academy students.

On Thursday 11 May 2017 the School hosted an evening with Lisa Darmanin of Waterhouse Darmanin Sailing. Lisa captured our hearts as the 2016 Rio Olympics where she, along with her cousin Jason Waterhouse, won Sailing Silver in the exciting Nacra 17 class. The evening was hosted by Murray Jones with special guest speakers David Connor and Michael Cooper.

Lisa spoke about finding a healthy balance between study and sporting commitments. She went into detail about her sailing journey, specifically, how you must focus on enjoying your sport and then the results will follow!

The evening was made possible by the generosity of Neil Thomas (’38) and Joy Anderson as well as our hosts The Henry Jones Art Hotel.

We would like to thank Lisa for taking the time to visit us, she has been an inspiration to all that attended last Thursday evening. We wish her all the best for her Tokyo 2020 sailing campaign in the newly modified foiling Nacra 17 class!
