Hutchins Art Prize winner announced

A big congratulations to Michael Vale who took out the $20,000 first prize in the Hutchins Australian Contemporary Art Prize with his painting The Great Divide. Michael was presented with the award by the Patron of the prize, Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Kate Warner AC Governor of Tasmania at the glittering Opening Celebration on Friday 8 June 2018 at Brooke Street Pier.

The $1,000 Artery Tasmanian Artist’s Prize was awarded to Sara Maher for her exquisite ink and pigment on paper work The Breath of Matter Itself.

The judges awarded two special Commendations: to Mish Meijers for The Garden (Dungeness) and Georgie Mattingley for Ascension II.

Congratulations artists! It was wonderful to have such a great turnout for the Opening Celebration.
