The opportunity

The Hutchins School, established in 1846, is an Anglican Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 day and boarding school in Hobart, Tasmania. We are an Anglican school whose supportive learning community works together to nurture humility, kindness, courage and respect.

The role

The School seeks to appoint a full-time, proactive and values driven Marketing and Communications Officer, with a keen eye for detail and flair for design, to join our creative team in Sandy Bay. The role reports to the Marketing and Communications Manager and is a vital component of the Community Relations Team, providing support to the School’s marketing, communications and community engagement activities, including but not limited to, photography, open days and functions throughout the school year.

Our new Marketing and Communications Officer will have:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including liaison with external providers (e.g. graphic designers, contractors).
  • Highly-developed written skills, including copywriting, proofreading and experience creating and curating content for a vareity of audiences and channels, including the production of content for social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Vimeo).
  • Ability to use and/or learn the Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Premiere Pro) to produce content for print, digital media and branded publications.
  • Experience in the use of digital platforms for the creation of e-newsletters, email communications and updating of websites.

  • Demonstrate your interpersonal and communication skills to develop strong professional relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, allowing you to work efficiently both independently and as a part of a busy, dynamic team.
