The Hutchins School Children’s Services incorporates the preschool years (Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, children born 2021–2022) and Outside School Hours Care (Before and After School Care, and Vacation Care) and is an approved child care provider. The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) applies to these services.

Our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs are designed to be engaging and challenging, and support development of learner dispositions and learning how to learn. We provide experiences that encourage children to develop their sense of identity and to develop social skills, self- regulation and independence. We nurture a deep sense of curiosity and support the development through intentional teaching and child initiated experiences, allowing children to see themselves as confident and capable learners.
The Hutchins School Children’s Service has been awarded an overall rating of Exceeding the National Quality Standards. Our service was the state winner of the 2022 Kindicare Excellence Award, with a rating of 9.5, placing our service in the top 2% of early childhood learning services in Australia. Our Pre-Kindergarten building received an Award for Educational Architecture at the 2024 Tasmanian Architecture Awards.
Hutchins Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) is based in the Early Years Building at The Hutchins School, catering for boys between 3 and 12 years (and girls in Vacation Care). We operate on ratios of one staff member per 10 children for all ages and services, with additional leadership support. Our service is staffed by a professional team with both qualifications and extensive experience in Children’s Services.
