School uniforms

All students are required to wear the correct school uniform.

Clothing, bags, books, equipment and personal property must be clearly marked with the student’s name. Name tags may be ordered through the School Uniform Store. The School Uniform Store is located at 195 Churchill Avenue, Sandy Bay. Opening hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm (closed on public holidays). The School Uniform Store may be contacted on 03 6225 0422.

Daily wear: Pre-Kinder and Kinder

Summer uniform

  • Shorts
  • Gold polo shirt (short sleeved)
  • ELC rugby jumper
  • Black socks
  • Black leather shoes (velcro if possible)
  • Black backpack
  • Yellow sun hat
  • Plastic smock
  • Black velcro-fastened sneakers (to be kept at school)

Winter uniform

  • Tracksuit trousers
  • ELC rugby jumper
  • Gold polo shirt (long-sleeved)
  • Black socks
  • Yellow sun hat

Daily wear: Prep - Year 2

Formal uniform

  • Grey shorts with Hutchins grey walk socks
  • White short or long-sleeved shirt
  • School tie (elastic tie optional)
  • Black leather lace-up shoes
  • Hutchins blazer
  • Approved style school sun hat - black bucket hat with House colour edging
  • Black school windcheater
  • Plastic smock
  • School back pack

Optional items: dark grey long trousers with short grey or black socks, rugby jumper.

NB: The blazer is an essential part of the uniform particularly for Chapel, Assembly and to and from school (it is only optional in the hot summer months when students may just wear shirts). From Prep - Year 6 students wear shorts, which are cross seasonal. Long-sleeved white shirts are permitted for sun protection. All students in Prep - Year 6 need to have a pair of shorts. The wearing of long trousers is an option.

NB: Skins/undergarments are not part of the School uniform and must not be worn to PE lessons or sport carnivals. However if students still wish to wear them to sport training sessions they may. Skins/undergarments must not be worn to games.

Daily wear: Years 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12

Some flexibility in the selection of summer or winter uniform is allowed. Long grey trousers with school blazer and white shirts (and school pullovers if required) are the usual winter uniform. Tailored grey shorts, with or without school blazer, long socks and long or short-sleeved white shirts are the usual summer uniform. Students may choose to wear either uniform at any time except on specially designated occasions, but it must be one or the other and not a mixture of the two. There are specially designated occasions throughout the year for which formal winter uniform (long grey trousers, white shirt, tie and blazer) must be worn.
