Student Accommodation

Burbury House : The Student Residence

Hutchins welcomes boarders from Year 6 to Year 12 into Burbury House, a well-appointed boarding house on the Senior School campus. Boys from Tasmania, other Australian States and from many overseas countries live in Burbury House. Year 7 to Year 11 boys have individual bed-studies and most Year 12 boys have their own room.

A strong community spirit exists at Burbury House with boys enjoying their school life and recognising the importance of caring for and supporting one another.

Burbury House has billiard, 8-ball and table tennis tables, and the House has television viewing rooms and student computer facilities. Boarders have after-school access to Hutchins' sporting facilities.

A full-time Director of Boarding supervises the House and manages all residential aspects of life at Hutchins. He and his wife are supported by Resident House Tutors who supervise and assist boarders during their evening studies and at weekends. Matron is on call every day and first-rate medical and dental facilities are available nearby.

In addition, a voluntary group of boarders' parents works with the resident staff to ensure excellent care for the boys of Burbury House.
