Old Boys v 1st XI Cricket
Thursday, 20 December 2012
A strong team of Old Boys (including eight previous captains) played the annual match on the WMO on Monday 26 November. Skipper Tim Scott (‘93) got the side off to a flying start with a hard hitting 92. Strong contributions also came from Nick Leitch (‘98) and Matthew Lister (‘04) with 39 runs each. The Old Boys were eventually dismissed for a formidable 315.
The 1st XI started slowly against an opening attack of Matthew Bax (‘03) and Mathew Allen ('92). At 22 for 3 things were a little bleak. The momentum swung rapidly as Captain Lockie Fraser, 86 retired, and Zac Bury (Year 11), 35 retired, launched their own attack. They were backed up by Brendan Hay (Year 11) 42 not out and Oliver Lane (Year 11) 49 not out reaching a total of 239 for 3 at the end of the allotted overs. Matt Bax ('03) was the pick of the Old Boy bowlers with his 2 for 20 in 10 overs.
A win to the Old Boys by 76 runs.
Look out for the Old Boys Sunday Cricket matches in February next year!
