Mothers acknowledged: a special breakfast

Mothers acknowledged: a special breakfast

This year we introduced a Mother’s Day Breakfast to provide the opportunity for mothers and sons of the Hutchins community to get together and share a breakfast. This occasion provided the boys with a special time to acknowledge their mothers. It must also be noted that the breakfast is not only for mothers and sons but boys can also share this occasion with any significant adult; indeed we welcomed many grandmothers, aunts and special friends. We had over 140 attendees, ranging from Kinder students through to grandmothers, enjoy a wonderful relaxing morning with a cooked breakfast.

The Prefects of 2013 were the driving force behind the event and their organisation was outstanding. Along with the Development Office and the catering staff at Burbury House, an excellent event was held.

Our guest speaker was Jenny Piemontese the 2010 Tasmanian Mother of the Year. In her address, she relayed and reflected on her life journey as her family had opened their home to more than 26 foster children, a truly remarkable way of giving, serving and improving our community.

Due to the success of this event, we plan to continue with this tradition into 2014 and will expand the event to cater for more attendees.
