Head of Learning Support

The opportunity

The Hutchins School, established in 1846 is an Anglican Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 day and boarding school in Hobart, Tasmania with an enrolment of over 1,000 boys.

An exciting opportunity is available for an outstanding educator to lead our Learning Support Program. In this role, you will develop and implement programs and specific strategies that support pedagogical and pastoral approaches that support student learning needs.  In addition, you will provide leadership and management to our team of Teachers and Teacher Aides who provide a wonderful range of learning support services to our students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have the capacity to lead the implementation of evidence-based approaches to differentiated teaching practices that support personalised learning and student engagement.
  • Have knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
  • Have familiarity with relevant curriculum documentation, e.g. ACARA, Tasmanian Assessment Standards and Certification (TASC) and the Schools Registration Board of Tasmania (SRB).
  • Have demonstrated experience in developing and leading a high performing team.

It is a strict requirement of our school that all staff obtain and maintain a Tasmania's Department of Justice Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) evidence of which must be provided prior to commencement.

All staff are required to support the School’s Christian education programs according to the practices of the Anglican Church of Australia.
